Ministry of Justice Permanent Secretary for Administration, Ambassador Isabelle Lemba, says the Ministry’s work extends far beyond drafting laws, it is also a vital driver of national development.
Speaking when she visited the Zambia Law Development Commission (ZLDC) stand at the ongoing 97th Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka, Ambassador Lemba emphasised the Ministry’s commitment to shaping a just and prosperous society through responsive legal and policy frameworks.
“The Ministry of Justice is not just about laws. Its role is about promoting development in the country,” she said during her interaction with Kaseba Nakasamu, a Lusaka resident whom she found interacting with ZLDC staff. The PS said that the Ministry and its statutory bodies, including the ZLDC, are instrumental in reforming laws to meet Zambia’s socio-economic needs.

Ambassador Lemba encouraged citizens to take interest in law reform processes, as inclusive legal frameworks are essential for effective adaptation to global challenges like climate change.
This year’s Show is being held under the theme “Adapting to Climate Change” and the ZLDC is using the platform to educate the public on ongoing legal reforms aimed at addressing contemporary issues such as environmental protection, land rights, and access to justice.
