Law reform in Zambia is a critical intersection between Parliament and government-led initiatives, with each playing a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s legislative landscape. Parliament formulates, debates, and passes laws, while government-led reforms, spearheaded by executive agencies, aim to modernize Zambia’s statute book through consultative processes. The interaction between these two entities is essential for fostering a legal environment that promotes justice, economic growth, and national development. However, challenges persist, including the politicization of law reform and disparities in representation of women and minority groups. To address these issues, recommendations were proposed, including prioritizing public interest in law reform, amending the Constitution to provide for more representation of minority groups, enacting legislation for political parties to ensure more representation of women, incentivizing political parties to include minority groups as candidates, and encouraging stakeholders to be vigilant and conscious of law reforms.
